Welcome to PolitePolitics
PolitePolitics is a local political movement for St Helens, built around respectful debate, community representation and practical action. Our aim is to give residents a stronger voice in the decisions that affect their towns, villages and neighbourhoods, while moving away from the hostility and party-political point scoring that too often dominate politics.
PolitePolitics will support local independent branches across St Helens, each focused on the needs of its own community. Newton-le-Willows Independents are already representing residents in Newton West, where they hold all three ward seats. We are also growing in Haydock, where Paul Hooton stood for Haydock Independents in the recent by-election, and in Billinge and Seneley Green, where Tom Middleton-Leonard will be standing in the upcoming by-election there.
Our approach is simple: listen to local people, work constructively, and put communities before party politics. Whether it is Billinge and Seneley Green, Haydock, Newton-le-Willows or other parts of St Helens, PolitePolitics exists to help residents feel informed, included and properly represented.

Their approach is centred on practical local priorities, protecting the character of the area, improving everyday services and ensuring residents have a stronger voice in decisions that affect them. As part of PolitePolitics, they offer an alternative to national party politics by focusing on community-led representation, respectful debate and solutions shaped by local people.

Haydock Independents are a locally focused independent group committed to representing the interests of Haydock residents. Their emphasis is on community-led politics, local services, neighbourhood issues and ensuring that decisions affecting Haydock are shaped by the people who live and work there. Like other independent groups, they aim to offer an alternative to national party politics by concentrating on practical priorities close to home.
